Project Concept

The concept statement is a 2-part summary description of the project.

• a "tweet" : this is one (maybe 2) sentences after the project title/name; think of it as a subtitle even, and it explains the project very succinctly
  
  
• then, a single-page, 2 or 3 paragraph summary; It should capture the motivation of the project, tell what problems are making the system needed, tell who the software will serve, and explain how the software will provide solutions to the problems of those users; it should follow the title and tweet, but still be visible on the main page without clicking to get there.

The "tweet" is there to give a viewer a quick taste of the work, and perhaps help the viewer decide if more details is wanted. Writing something clear and informative, but short, is a good exercise for the team to help solidify a good common understanding of what you are doing.

The longer summary then provides a bit more detail to the interested reader without the need to navigate the web site, and without being drowned in detail. You are free to include diagrams or photos if you like... but it is basically a single page explaining why your team is doing this work and giving a few high level points about it. Details of the specific functions, and the methods used to implement those... are for later and deeper into the website.
